They explore dreams together (much in the style of Inception) before this friend gets caught in a 'sticky, clammy mass' within the dream world. The story revolves around a person deeply interested in dreams meeting another person with similar interests at a railway station.

Lovecraft, part of his Dream Cycle series of stories. I’d actually like to have a representation of a suitable deity in all the rooms in my house – Vesta in the kitchen, Neptune in the bathroom, Mercury or Jizo in the Guest Room (because they protect travellers), and Hecate / Inari in the living room. Hypnos is a story written in 1922 by author H.P. Hypnos was the son of the goddess Nyx (the deity of the Night) and Erebus (the deity of Darkness). I also see the gold flecks as representing the stars in the night sky, which seems appropriate for the God of Sleep who is also son of the Goddess of Night, Nyx. Hypnos is also the twin brother of Thanatos, the God of Death, so he could also represent this deity too. One of the most complete representations of Hypnos is a bronze statuette from the collection of the Roman Museum in Augst (see an image here ). Ive been grinding the last 100 runs trying to make Thanatos talk to Hypnos and it simply wont happen.
